Sarah's story "I went from participant to instructor"

SarahT Colchester2

I become a Clubbercise instructor on 18th July 2020, I remember the day clearly as I was so excited and proud to get the email to say I had passed!

I decided to take the training because I had been a participant for 4 years and I just absolutely loved it. It was the first form of exercise I properly committed to, I fell in love with the concept from day one and loved it ever since, my family and friends asked why I hadn’t already become an instructor, and pushed me to take the plunge!

I never in a million years thought I would be good enough to become an instructor, I was the quiet one, I would never speak a word in a routine, I would never sing, and now you can’t shut me up, I am there right with my Clubbers absolutely loving life! I overcame my shyness, I now have a confidence I never had before, and it helps with my own mental health like you wouldn’t believe.

My training was online, I was gutted I couldn’t go to London to experience it properly and meet everyone else, but online was just as good, very different, but Anna was amazing! Kept the training fresh, kept us engaged, made us laugh - so many times! And it was just as informative, I came away feeling confident, ready to take on the world with Clubbercise!

I launched my classes in September 2020. My classes since then have progressed hugely! My class numbers were limited to 15 maximum, because of social distancing rules but I always filled that number, and always had a new participant each week. I have now changed from one session a week to three, as I needed the extra dates.

My participants absolutely love the classes, I have one lady who has lost 3 stone and said she has never managed to lose weight like she has since starting Clubbercise! My Clubbers tell me that I help brighten up their evenings.

The biggest benefit for me from a business perspective - I get to do this as a job! I get to dance, have fun, meet new people, make friends, listen to great music, get fit, keep fit! As a fitness concept - it's dancing in the dark to the biggest club anthems whilst exercising! It’s that good you don’t even feel like you are exercising and that’s one of the things my participants always tell me, it helps with mental health like no other concept.
